Product Description

Heat-Resistant Cadmium Ingot Blocks - Stable Performance at High Temperatures - China Export Quality

Silver white ductile metal, hexagonal crystal system. The relative density is 8.65g/cm ³, with a melting point of 321 ºC and a boiling point of 765 ºC. The resistivity is 6.83x10 Ω· m (20 ºC). The surface is oxidized and loses its luster in the air. Insoluble in water, easily soluble in acid, releases hydrogen gas. Not reacting with alkali. The main oxidation state is+2. Important compounds include cadmium oxide, cadmium hydroxide, cadmium sulfide, cadmium halide, and cadmium complexes. 

Cadmium exists in nature as cadmium sulfide ore (mainly composed of cadmium sulfide), and is commercially obtained as elemental cadmium from the byproduct of zinc production from sphalerite.  In industry, the main uses of cadmium include metal electroplating, cadmium yellow pigment, colored glass, plastic stabilizer, nickel cadmium batteries, etc. Cadmium telluride is an excellent semiconductor material commonly used in the production of solar panels.
